Ben Burns

I'm an undergraduate at UMass Amherst studying math and CS. My general interests are in applications of probability, in control of deterministic and stochastic systems, and in mathematical machine learning. I am fortunate to be advised by Markos Katsoulakis and Benjamin Zhang.

I am passionate about computer science education. Spring 2024 will be my 10th semester as an Undergraduate Course Assistant (UCA) at UMass, and I'm proud to be both a UCA for Formal Language Theory and a UCA program coordinator. I was previously Head UCA for Foundations of Programming and Algorithms, and also the grader for undergraduate number theory.

Information about my research and projects can be found here. My math and CS course history can be found here. My CV is available upon request.
